Last week Mack and I went out and about to run some errands and explore some stores I was interested in. We went to a few different antique stores/salvage places and one of them we discovered was having an auction on Sunday. We'd never been to one before and thought it sounded really fun. Plus, the woman at the store said we could take a peek at the room filled with stuff they were auctioning off and I spotted a few things I was really interested in. So we decided to go. I didn't have my heart absolutely set on anything, but I was definitely hoping to score some cool stuff. We got there a little after it started, but we walked around looking at everything. I took pictures of the stuff I thought was interesting and we bid on multiple things! We were outbid most of the time, which was a little disappointing, but we did not leave empty handed! I actually bought the two things I had my eye on from earlier in the week - a set of old ice cream parlor chairs and a beautiful gold mirror to replace my ugly plastic one in our living room. It was a really fun (but loooong) day and we ended up spending more than I had planned (Mack got carried away with the mirror) but I'm so glad we went. I'd really like to keep my eye out for more auctions and make it a regular activity for us. Since we're staying with Mack's parents for the next 6 months, we don't have a whole lot of room but we're planning on taking things back to our storage unit in VA every so often so I'm using that as an excuse to keep buying stuff for our house. So other than the annoying woman outbidding us at every term who made me want to cut her it was a lot of fun! We're thinking next time we'll bring some snacks and water and maybe even a little booze and make a day of it. Here are some of the pretty items we spotted!
Hope everyone's had an awesome weekend!
